ABOUT SALT - SCHOOL OF ADVANCED LEADERSHIP TRAINING
www.hiu.edu/salt
Through the School of Advanced Leadership Training (SALT) Hope International University partners with churches and other Universities to develop effective servant leaders. The title “SALT” evokes Jesus’ reminder that his disciples should be “the salt of the earth”(Matthew 5:13).
SALT courses promote students’ biblical, professional, and personal development. Through courses focusing on “Biblical Development,” students gain a working knowledge of the Christian Scriptures, interpretive methods for “correctly handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15), and guidance in applying God’s word in their daily lives. Through courses focusing on “Professional Development,” students gain practical insights and skills for fruitful ministry. Courses focusing on “Personal Development” promote emotional health, personal maturity, and growth in one’s relationships with God and others.
SALT Courses
A SALT course typically includes online audio/video lectures with PowerPoint, online discussions, group projects, and other assignments, readings, and resources – all based on a website devoted to that course. Once a week, students will meet together with an on-site mentor here at Coastal Church to discuss how to apply principles learned within their local context.
The SALT courses:
- 5 weeks long (each course).
- Are practical and affordable.
- Provide personal attention from online university professors, and on-site mentors.
- Allow for flexible studying schedules
- Can be taken as audit, or for Undergraduate or Graduate credits.
- Are accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
- Move students beyond “head knowledge” to active service and character formation.
