Abundant Life will be starting again this fall with a new series called "Freedom Sessions". For more information contact Pastor Dan Walton at dwalton@coastalchurch.org

Abundant Life is designed to equip and train you to walk in the freedom and the victory that is in Jesus Christ. Every Wednesday, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, we encourage you to gather together to hear from the experience of teachers and pastors on various topics that will encourage you to grow in your walk with God. After each lesson we gather together in small life groups to discuss the lessons and build each other up in our faith, learning to enjoy the abundant life God promised.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me….He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners….and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed.” - Luke 4:18
 
As we look around us, inside and outside the Church, we see lives that need a touch from God. Freedom Session gives us biblical answers towards freedom and healing from the memories, behaviours or unhealthy patterns of relating we have developed to protect our heart. It will further encourage us to rely on the healing power of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This course deals with the issues common people are struggling with. It uncovers the underlying wounds that leave us vulnerable to escaping pain through alcohol, pornography, co dependence, fantasy, rage, passivity, isolation or performance. When we uncover these wounds, we bring them to Jesus for healing. At Freedom Session, we learn to hear from God and respond to His voice as we deal with past or current pain. Freedom Session uses the 12 Step language to build bridges to the recovery community. We look forward to meeting you at the Freedom Session, which starts this fall.

Freedom Session deals with issues like:

CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY
If you are using alcohol and/or drugs to alter your moods or hear others express concern about your consumption, you are likely an alcoholic and/or an addict. Here you will find support as you give up your addiction and help you find healing for the deeper hurts that make escaping so attractive.

Men SEEKING PURITY
For men struggling with sexual wholeness and purity issues including lust, pornography, masturbation and sexual addiction.  We know you’ve tried to quit and failed.  At Freedom Session, we will help you break free from the addiction and shame that has bound you.

Women SEEKING PURITY
For women feeling controlled by sexual fantasy and/or desire?  Are you constantly reading romance novels or find yourself drawn to sexually explicit material?  Has your past included multiple partners in your search for acceptance or freedom from pain?  If so, the freedom community can help you.

Men & Women SEEKING WHOLENESS
For men & women wounded through past physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse. Your journey will include healing from your past trauma as well as from the impact these past experiences continue to have on your life. You don’t have to live in silence anymore!

Men & Women SEEKING BALANCE
For those who escape pain through habitual eating and indulgence or those chronically dieting without knowing why.  If food  controls you or your appearance defines you, you will find help and support among friends.
These two courses will teach you how to make wise financial decisions that honour God, your loved ones and the generations after you.

MH2H (Men Heart to Heart)
For men with less obvious wounds and/or issues in their lives. (ie: anger, control, abuse, isolation, frozen emotions, sarcasm,  broken or co-dependent relationships) who are seeking wholeness & significance in life.  MH2H groups deal with men’s issues not covered in our other groups.

CO-DEPENDENCY for Women
Do you worry how others respond to your feelings, opinions, and behavior?  Do you have a hard time saying no?  Do you minimize, alter, or deny how you truly feel?  This group you will help you express your wants and needs in healthy ways.

Women SEEKING GRACE
Many women silently carry the emotional scars and layers of guilt as a result of having an abortion earlier in life. You are not alone and do not need to carry your secret to the grave.  God wants to heal you and we want to walk with you as He does.

* Freedom Session also deals with gambling addictions and the associated pain of separation or divorce, even death.

Perhaps these groups don’t describe you but someone you love.  If so, you’re invited to join one of our “TOS” groups.

TOS stands for The Other Side of… chemical/sexual addiction and gambling.
If you live with someone struggling with an addiction, you can find help and healing whether or not your loved one seeks recovery.  Let us help you put your life back together and establish healthy boundaries.
